Blue Slipper Theatre Announces Auditions for David Ives’ “Venus in Fur”
Open auditions for Venus in Fur, March 7 and 8, 2017 at the Blue Slipper Theatre
The Blue Slipper theatre will host open auditions for the play “Venus in Fur” on March 7 and 8, 2017 at 7 PM at the Blue Slipper Theatre, 113 East Callender St., Livingston, MT.
Sherry Pikul, a graduate of Syracuse University College of Visual and Performing Arts, will direct. Ms Pikul is seeking one male and one female actor, age 22 to 50, to play the roles of Thomas, the author, and Vanda, the actress. Acting experience is preferred, but no prepared material is necessary to audition.
David Ives’ play, “Venus in Fur” was originally produced by the Manhattan Theatre Club in 2011. “Venus” features a beleaguered playwright, Thomas, searching for an actress to play his female lead, and a desperate actress, Vanda, who arrives late and frazzled, but shows a curious command of the material. “Venus” is a fascinating look at seduction, tactic and intention. A psychological power-play, with an altogether unexpected and kinky resolution.
Performances are scheduled for weekends April 21 through May 7.
